Intro

Hello! Glad you found me here. I'm Julia. Born in Russia, grew up near Boston, went to the University of Maryland, and now you can find me all the way in Seattle! Seems like I'm slowly circling the globe. I currently love living on the west coast because of the beautiful nature, starting from the sea all the way to the giant mount Rainier.

When I'm not working, I am crossing off items from my never ending bucket list filled with outdoor adventures, travel, and new experiences. Most recently, I visited Oaxaca, Mexico to experience the Dia de los Muertos holiday, practice my Spanish, and of course, indulge in amazing food. Whats on your bucket list?

Work

I love to be business minded and customer obsessed. My favorite part of my job is defining the product vision and getting creative during the design thinking process. Throughout my career, I have worked across many multidisciplinary teams and cross-functional projects with tight timelines and high visibility. During this time, I have demonstrated the ability to define the product strategy, distill requirements, and launch features used by millions of people.

Since June 2018, I have been working at Microsoft on the Microsoft365 (M365) Machine Learning platform. The platform enables features like smart text prediction, search, meeting insights, and more. Specifically, I drove the entire offline training user experience design and journey of the self-service platform. In addition, I expanded training support from North America to Asia Pacific and Europe regions. Lastly, I designed and implemented core features related to data extraction of M365 datasets, maintaining GDPR compliance, and Azure resource provisioning.

Prior to my current role, I had some experience as a PM in the IoT networking space for Microsoft, software engineer intern at JP Morgan Chase, and as a software quality assurance engineer intern at Virgin Pulse. Check out my resume to learn more.

Hack

I believe that investing in education will ultimately eliminate poverty and is the best investment for the future. This is why, almost 4 years ago, I started working with Social Experiments, a non-profit focused on digital transformation in the education space.

In partnership with the non-profit, I led projects in 5 different hackathons, winning $5,500 during 2 Hack For Good competitions. Our project got so much traction and visibility, the company actually sponsored a trip for me and a team member to go pilot our solutions at a few girls schools in Ghana. We partnered with GIZ's #eSkills4Girls initiative, and jp.ik, a leader in the digital education space, to pilot an offline Content Access Point(CAP) that hosts educational content while also having the capability to connect to Azure's cloud. By integrating Azure IoT Edge, we were able to update the previously dark CAP device with content and send back usage data when connected via ethernet or cellular.
