Intro

Hi, I’m Julia! I was born in Russia, grew up near Boston, studied at the University of Maryland, and now call Seattle home. It feels like I’m slowly making my way around the globe! Living on the West Coast has been a dream—there’s nothing quite like the mix of coastlines, forests, and the iconic Mount Rainier.

Outside of work, I love diving into my ever-growing bucket list, from outdoor adventures and exciting travels to testing out new recipes in the kitchen.

Work

I am driven by a business-minded approach and a passion for understanding customer needs. My favorite part of my role is defining the product vision and applying creativity throughout the design thinking process. Over the course of my career, I’ve collaborated with multidisciplinary teams on high-visibility, cross-functional projects under tight deadlines. This has allowed me to effectively define product strategies, distill requirements, and launch features that impact millions of users.

Currently, I’m a Product Manager at Google for Chrome Browser Enterprise. In this role, I’ve developed solutions to simplify Chrome management for IT admins, including the launch of BYOD management on iOS. I’ve also introduced productivity-enhancing features for enterprise users, such as the Workspace Calendar card on the New Tab page and customizable Site Search Shortcuts. One of my favorite projects was creating a special-edition version of the chrome://dino game, where the Dino jumps over office furniture while spilling a coffee cup.

From 2018 to 2022, I worked at Microsoft on the Microsoft 365 (M365) Machine Learning platform, which powers features like smart text prediction, search, and meeting insights. I led the design of the offline training user experience for the self-service platform, expanding support from North America to Asia Pacific and Europe. I also designed and implemented core features related to data extraction from M365 datasets, ensuring GDPR compliance and optimizing Azure resource provisioning.

Before these roles, I gained valuable experience as a Product Manager in the IoT networking space at Microsoft, a software engineering intern at JP Morgan Chase, and a software quality assurance engineer intern at Virgin Pulse.

Hack

I believe that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to eliminate poverty and build a brighter future. In 2018, I began working with Social Experiments, a nonprofit dedicated to driving digital transformation in education.

In collaboration with the organization, I led projects across five hackathons, winning $5,500 in two Hack For Good competitions. One of our projects gained significant traction and visibility, which led to Microsoft sponsoring a trip for me and a teammate to pilot our solution at several girls’ schools in Ghana.

During this initiative, we partnered with GIZ’s #eSkills4Girls program and jp.ik, a leader in digital education, to implement an offline Content Access Point (CAP). This device hosted educational content and could connect to Azure’s cloud. By integrating Azure IoT Edge, we upgraded the CAP device to synchronize content and send usage data whenever connected via Ethernet or cellular.

Are you working on an exciting project in the education space? I’d love to connect and explore ways to help!
